Memory landscape
30 × 30 cm
Collage on cardboard.
This collage brings together geometric structure and organic color, merging two central threads of my practice: the calm order of repeated forms and the sensory richness of lived experience.
The composition is built from circles and semicircles arranged within a strict grid, a system that offers stability and rhythm. Inside these shapes, however, the color pencil fragments open into fluid and layered textures, a direct response to the landscapes of my Mediterranean homeland.
The earthy greens, warm reds, and deep blues recall cliffs, soil, sea, and shifting light. The work captures its atmosphere through sensory memory: the way colors blend in nature, the way horizons break into curves when seen up close. This interplay between geometry and organic variation talks about the balance I often seek between structure and emotion, predictability and quiet change.
Within the grid, each colored fragment becomes a small landscape, held in place and never still. The result is harmonic and dynamic, a visual rhythm shaped by repetition but animated by the softness of hand-drawn texture.
